History & General Rules

<PvD>, Players versus Dungeon, is a raiding guild first and foremost. With that said though we do not raid as often as many guilds, we expect our members to play 110% during the times we are raiding. We expect our members to place progress before greed and use the time allotted to raiding as effectively as possible. This is not to say that we do not want to have “fun” during raids. We fully understand that this is a game and should be kept in perspective, but we also recognize that raiding time is not just the time of single individual. It is the time of 25 others.

The core of PvD has a history of raiding during “vanilla” WoW. We raided under the tag <Prevailed> as Alliance on the server Drak’Thul and were the #1 guild on Drak’Thul until TBC. With its leaders dinging 60 when the first Rag killed happened on the server to having the server’s first Nefarian kill. Being known for it’s low drama, humorous and helpfully guild persona.

The guild disbanded at TBC due to many members looking to persue things IRL. During TBC raiding many members went to other raiding guilds and enjoyed much success, though some of the core took a break to go back to having real lives.

Near the end of TBC raiding core members discovered that their sexy and beloved GL was back playing WoW and decided that they would like to reform and enjoy all that WotLK had to offer while this time remembering that there is a “world” outside of WoW.
With that PvD is looking to recreate much of the fun that it was before and going back to the roots of what it formerly was in “vanilla” WoW and playing by its own rules.

A few general rules of <PvD>:

    • Keep the LuLz coming. A joke can be made about anything and anyone. Be it race, gender, sexual preference.
    • If it has loot, it should die.
    • If you don’t show up, you don’t get shit.
    • Be accountable. If you mess up suck it and admit it. We expect our members to have thick enough skin to be able to handle criticism. If you don’t want to get criticized don’t be terribad.
    • If you’re good, it’s okay to flex. We have no problem with people flexing their e-peens. In fact it is encourage it. We want our players to be competitive not only in our server’s raiding scene but amongst themselves. This flexing is limited to OURSELVES, we are not looking for members who troll General Chat or brag about acomplishments in other Public in-game channels. If you are the best people will know it there is no need to brag about it. It's tacky.

Guild Structure

The Guild Leader (GL)  – Handles general duties of the guild, sets the tone for raiding and makes sure everyone else does their job. Is expected to be a servant to the guild’s members, also is expected to stimulate the progress above all and is the final decision on all situations.  Tier 1 Looter.

The Assistant Guild Leader (AGL) – Is the eyes, ears, and mouth of the GL, while also being an advisor. Is a representative of the GL and is expected to maintain the view of the GL. This is not job of personal opinion, may handle other GL duties if allotted to him. Tier 1 Looter.

The Raid Leader  (RL) – Calls the shots during raids. Expected to set an expedient pace through instances and to organize and strategize tactics for new boss encounters.  Tier 1 Looter.

Role Lead  (SL) – Players who translate and make sure that the requests of the RL are being handled for each role (Tank, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS and Healing).  While making sure that other nuances of raiding are handled within their particular system. These players are not chosen solely for their skills and game knowledge, but also their communication skills and knowledge of guild rules.  Tier 1 Looter.

Members – Expected to show up to raids, play, participat in guild discussion on boss encounters and help to elevate the guild to the next level. Tier 1 Looter.

Recruit - A new member to the guild. While raiding earns DKP, just like Tier 1 members, but cannot loot over Tier 1 looters. Promotion from this status is based on playing in raids and attendance.

DKP

<PvD> uses a zero-sum DKP system.  <PvD>’s DKP system is also retroactive, meaning that any price changes or roster changes will be made as if they had taken affect day one.

DKP values will be determined by the mod ItemLevelDKP, but the right is reserved to lower or increase an item’s DKP value.

Example of zero-sum DKP
If Player A loots an item worth 300 each member of the raid and the 5 sit-outs are rewarded 10 DKP. Player A, who is looting the item, is also rewarded DKP so instead of being -300, he goes -290.

Sit-outs are rewarded DKP as if they were in the raid. This is to keep fairness amongst members of the guild. We recognize that it is not the fault of the player if they are forced to sit-out. Sit-outs are expected to be on their mains. If they are on a known alt then they must have their main parked outside of the raid.

On-time DKP, this is used to reward members who are on-time. The value is set by the GL.
Boss Attempt DKP, this value is used to rewarded members who are willing to attempt boss progress. This DKP value is set based on how well the boss attempts went. Things such as, how prepared the raid was, wipe recovery and boss percentage are taken into account.

Inflation and Deflation Adjustment
Our DKP system does have mechanics that cause inflation, with that said the inflation will be removed whenever the GL feels that there is “too” much. This is done by bring the SUM of the DKP back to zero.  Inflation and/or deflation can be caused also be members leaving the guild. If a member leaves the guild in positive DKP standing his DKP is redistributed amongst the active members of the guild. While if a member leaves the guild with negative DKP. His DKP is deducted from the active members of the guild.

Attendance
Members of <PvD> are expected to maintain at least a 75% attendance over a  2 week period. If a member falls below this threshold, they are moved to Tier 2 loots status.
Members can receive on-time DKP if they post in the AFK section that they will be late, BUT they must be there for at least 50% of the scheduled raid time upon their arrival. Attendance DKP is taken twice once at the beginning and once at the end of the raid.
